Meeting with the Vice President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia, Cyril Muller

On the 18th of January the Founder of the Peace and national Unity,

Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Vice President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia, -Cyril Muller in the National Palace. At the meeting were discussed the situation and prospects of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the World Bank cooperation in fields of mutual interest. As it was noted, during the 23-years of partnership the World Bank Group with Tajikistan in various areas of development, primarily in the areas of energy, infrastructure, agriculture, social, budget support and other priority areas established the fruitful cooperation in this period and presented many privileged loans, grants and technical assistance. From the bilateral cooperation level was expressed satisfaction and stressed that the Bank's active projects worth more than 350 million dollars which are realizing in various economic and social sectors of Tajikistan at present. The parties exchanged opinion on the effective implementation of the five-year strategy for bilateral cooperation that first of all covers the areas of private sector development, and strengthening regional ties, called important the preparation and implementation of the projects to prevent natural disasters, rehabilitation and bank reinforcement in Tajikistan within this Strategy. For the successful continuation of cooperation in the implementation of the regional project CASA-1000 electricity, renovation and rehabilitation of Norak Hydroelectric Power Plant and find extra money in this project, as well as the development of transport infrastructure expressed constructive views. In the meeting also discussed the issues of cooperation in the effective implementation of national development programs and strategies and help to prevent the strain of the global financial crisis.
