Deadly bomb blast hits army vehicle in Lahore

At least four people have been killed, including two civilians,

in a blast which appeared to have been an attack targeting a census team in Pakistan's city of Lahore, according to officials. Security officials cordoned off the area on Bedian Road in Lahore, the capital of Punjab province and Pakistan's second-largest city, after the explosion on Wednesday. "It appears to have been an act of terrorism," Punjab provincial law minister Rana Sanaullah said in televised comments, adding that two soldiers and two civilians had been killed. Malik Ahmad Khan, Punjab government spokesman, told the Reuters news agency that the attack had been carried out by a suicide bomber. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, which also left at least 10 people wounded. Pakistan is currently carrying out its first census since the last was held in 1998. The military is helping the Civilian Bureau of Statistics carry out a door-to-door survey of the population.
